ControlNet Scribble is an image generation model that combines ControlNet with Stable Diffusion, taking a hand-drawn scribble and a text prompt and generating a full image that follows the scribble's structure.

ControlNet was introduced in "Adding Conditional Control to Text-to-Image Diffusion Models" by Lvmin Zhang and collaborators (ICCV 2023). It adds a trainable copy of a diffusion model's layers that accepts extra conditioning, such as edges, poses, or scribbles, without retraining the base model. The scribble variant was trained on scribble-image pairs built from boundary detection, handling rough hand-drawn lines too.

This is a hosted port of that scribble mode on Replicate, published by developer jagilley, reachable through an API that takes a sketch and a prompt and returns an image.

It suits turning a rough layout sketch into a finished illustration, useful for concept art or converting a wireframe drawing into a polished image while keeping its composition.
